About

The Tribal Outreach Medical Assistance (TOMA) Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization founded in 1996 by siblings Randall, Tressa, and Richard Green, and Drs. Jeff Butts and Robbie Robinson.

Dedicated to improving the health and survival of indigenous tribal communities in Latin America, TOMA began in Venezuela to combat the malaria epidemic amongst the tribes of the Amazon river basin in Venezuela. TOMA shifted its efforts in 2005 to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, home of the Arhuaco, Wiwa, Kogui, and Kankuamo peoples. The U.S.-based nonprofit foundation now provides solar energy systems for remote medical clinics and schools, training community members in their maintenance.
