Focus: Five Arhuaco villages in Magdalena and Cesar regions, Colombia
Our Objective
This year's team will travel to communities in both the departments of Cesar and Magdalena to install and expand solar-powered vaccine refrigeration systems. The project includes work in two communities in Cesar—Izrwa and Donachui—as well as three communities in Magdalena: Windiwa, Umuke, & Seynurwa.
Reliable solar power allows vaccines and essential medicines to be safely stored year-round, improving access to preventative healthcare in some of Colombia's most remote mountain communities.
Looking Ahead
As TOMA continues its commitment to improving healthcare access across the Sierra, our February 2027 project will focus on completing five solar-powered medical refrigeration systems.
