February 2025, TOMA Trip Report: Rio Don Diego
Magdalena, Colombia
The objective of our February 2025 trip to the Sierra was to install two solar systems in the communities of Jiwa and Seykwanamake. The team arrived in Santa Marta and travelled by 4x4, raft, and trail to the villages. The mamos of the community blessed the trip and thanked the team for improving their medical infrastructure.
Looking forward
As TOMA prepares to commemorate 30 years of work in Latin America, our focus is on completing vaccine refrigeration projects in the Sierra in late 2025 and early 2026. The following is our planned budget for the TOMA30 Arhuaco Vaccine project.
Villages requiring vaccine refrigeration: $27,500
Seynurwa, Bunkwamake, Umake, and Gunmaku
Villages requiring solar systems: $37,000
Durankwa, Guamuni, Jwinaruwun, and Gunmaku
Travel and supplies for the team: $10,000
Total: $75,000
As always, the communities of the Sierra Nevada and TOMA Foundation thank you for your support. Your continued generosity makes this work possible.
With Gratitude, Randall Green
